1. Lumière: The Art of Light
Lumière: The Art of Light is returning this winter! This annual free art event takes place at Ontario Place and allows the public to explore the park filled with art developed by Ontario artists. See Trillium Park be illuminated with light and innovation.

2. Winter Stations 2024
The highly anticipated return of the Winter Stations public exhibition is back this February! Winter stations invite the art and international design community to reimagine and rethink the lifeguard stations along Woodbine Beach for the winter season. The competition has seen entries from over 90 countries, bringing new innovations to the water's edge.

3. Urban Exhibit
The 8th Annual Urban Exhibit is back! This free indoor market features over 85+ talented artists and artisans in Toronto! If you’re in the market for fashion, home decor, skincare or one-of-a-kind items, then this market is for you! The event also features food vendors and music by DJ Kid Artik.

4. Sugar Shack TO
Sugar Shack TO is running from March 9th - 10th this year and will be filled with lots of winter fun. Watch Sugar Beach be transformed into a maple-filled, Canadian extravaganza. General admission is free and will include live entertainment, a maple sugaring demonstration, interactive activities and more.

5. Sweet City Fest
Starting February 9th, Sweet City Fest will be at stackt market! This fest celebrates all things sweet and features workshops, community events, performances, limited edition food & drink specials, 100+ vendors and more.

6. Heineken Route 0.0
Party on a streetcar like never before! Hop on the Heineken Route 0.0 streetcar ride and experience this unique and free activity. Happening only on January 20th and 27th, riders will be able to hop aboard the Heineken Route 0.0 for free at dedicated stops in the city. Inside the streetcar, there will be live music from some of Toronto’s hottest DJs, complimentary Heineken 0.0, and a Route 0.0 wristband. With the wristband, you’ll get to skip the line and cover charge and grab some free Heineken 0.0 at Belfast Love, Isabelle’s, Parlour, Drake Hotel, Death & Taxes, Three Dollar Bill, and Peaches Sports Bar.
Where: The route will begin at Union Station, followed by stops at King W and Portland, Queen W and Bathurst, Queen W and Abell, Queen W and Sorauren, and Dundas West Station, before looping back towards Union Station. 7. Hangar Skate
From January 19th to March 17th, there will be free open skating on Saturdays and Sundays with free skating lessons and even an immersive light show on the ice in front of airplane Hangars. Skates are available for rental again this year at $5 for adults and free for children under 12 years old. Plus, DJ Skate Nights will be happening on select Fridays.

8. TD Union Winter Roller Express
Roller skate inside the newly opened TD West Carriageway for free. Enjoy 5,500 sq ft of skating surface that’s animated with lights for a fun retro experience. There will be free skate lessons, Union Beats DJ skate nights on Fridays, exclusive Beats & Boogie 19+ skate nights, immersive activities, activations, and more.

9. Go Tobogganing
Go tobogganing this month. This is a fun and free winter activity to do with your family and friends. There are many different tobogganing hills scattered in different parts of the city. Click here for some of our favourites.
10. DesignTO Festival
Be immersed in the breathtaking art at DesignTO. The festival takes place in-person and online across several different venues in Toronto. Most events and exhibitions are free, but some require an RSVP or purchased tickets.

11. Winter Ice Skating

12. Go on a Winter Walk
Going on a winter walk and escaping the noisy city can be refreshing. Immerse yourself on a peaceful winter walk in the city. Toronto has many free trails for the public. We recommend the Glen Stewart Ravine, Rouge National Urban Park, High Park or Tommy Thompson Park.
