If you’re a frequent concert-goer like this author, you were frustrated and disappointed when the whole world shut down for what seemed like decades (it was only a year and a half, but time flies when you’re having fun). Now that concerts are back in full swing with some of the biggest artists in the world coming to Toronto, festivals attracting attendees from all over the country, and emerging local artists showcasing their talents, it’s time to go see some live music again; here are our picks for the best concerts this week!
Tuesday, October 11th:
Iron Maiden at the Scotiabank Arena
One of the most influential heavy metal bands of all time, Iron Maiden brings their “Legacy of the Beast” world tour to the Scotiabank Arena! Sing along to some of the classics including Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, and The Trooper while Iron Maiden deliver their trademark high-energy performance!

Death From Above 1979 at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre
We talked earlier about how The Sheepdogs guided Canadian rock last decade; the decade before that, Death From Above 1979 was that band and never even got to reach their peak before imploding in on themselves. Now, they bring their eclectic, exciting mix of metal, hardcore, electronica, and piano balladry back to the Queen Elizabeth Theatre!

Oso Oso at the Velvet Underground
Oso Oso will be playing the Velvet Underground on Friday night, promoting their new album Sore Thumb. One of emo’s most critically acclaimed new acts, their new album was named “Best New Music” by Pitchfork, and serves as a tribute to the band’s late guitarist, Tavish Maloney.

Venus Fest
