On October 5th, Nuit Blanche is returning to the city with a night full of art installations and interactive designs. Experience artworks that bridge distance and encourage connection. With almost 100 artworks, it’s nearly impossible to visit all of them so we’ve put together a list of the must-see exhibits.

1. Lumi
Inspired by meandering rivers, this artwork features a string of illuminated, soft inflated balls, creating a dynamic chain that adapts to its surroundings.

4. #hopeandhealingcanada
Immerse yourself in a captivating installation that poses questions of identity while sparking dialogue on displacement, decolonization and reconciliation. “#hopeandhealingcanada” invites audiences to venture through pathways of understanding between Indigenous and Canadian settler communities.

5. Hopes and Fears Assembly
It’s assembly time! Come and experience live art projects created by professionals and students in this inter-generational and international gathering of human-based interactive projects.

8. 1-800-INF-ERNO
A distortion of perception? Or just a bad connection? This sonic installation explores our connection to the climate crisis.

9. Humans Build the Biggest Nests
“Humans Build the Biggest Nests” is a giant ecological flipbook. Visitors brush their hands along the pages to animate interconnected pathways.

10. Answer the Call
A project that plays with person detection and mutual interaction. At two separate locations, devices light up together when the cameras detect people on both ends. Those caught on screen have the choice to engage or walk away. Will you shy away from contact or seize the opportunity to let a seemingly random connection blossom into a shared memory?

11. Nuit Bronze: Sounds of the City
This is an installation that connects listeners all over the world to Toronto hip-hop culture and its pioneers. With live DJs, innovators and surprise guest artists that have cultivated the city’s vibrant musical roots, audiences are invited to share in the experience globally using radio-streaming technology.

12. home is what I call the other place when I'm not there
Audiences are invited to record short thoughts of home that contribute to live music and a soundscape collage that continually evolves throughout the night.

13. We are all made of stars
Participants are invited to physically place an illuminated star on a galaxy map by choosing a path that resonates with them. Throughout the night, the galaxy gradually forms as more stars are added, with each star representing a contribution from those who came before.

14. Echo Chamber at Humber Polytechnic
Echo Chamber is an interactive installation that turns voices into light and brings attention to how people connect with each other over long distances.

15. Finding Roots Together

16. Raccoon Alley & Toronto Gone Wild
The works in “Raccoon Alley” are themed around our relationship to animals of this city and how we coexist. It is also about our creative spirit and how our imagination is often not far from the truth. It will also feature a 14-foot raccoon sculpture in honour of Conrad the raccoon.
