Brunch; the beautiful hybrid of breakfast and lunch, the signature meal of the weekend, and a culinary symbol of freedom from the work week. This is an event where tables are filled with omelettes and bacon, but also with burgers and salad, as breakfast staples mingle with lunch favourites. Orange juice dances with champagne as mimosas (sometimes bottomless; we’ll get to that later) line tables and set the mood for the dining experience. Here are our picks for the best spots in the city to grab brunch!
Eviva
With multiple locations in and around the city, Eviva is quickly becoming one of the city’s most popular spots for brunch. This restaurant has a gorgeous interior and an expansive menu featuring a list of premium cocktails, all-day breakfast with a huge variety of omelettes and waffles, and a dedicated vegan menu featuring multiple versions of their signature eggs benedict (including a patented simulated egg that tastes and looks just like the real thing)!
Where: 25 Lower Simcoe St, Toronto, ON, M5J 3A1 & 5221 Yonge St, North York, ON, M2N 5P8.
Price: $$-$$$.

Fox and Fiddle on John St. (Fox on John)
Check out that mimosa tower! While the Fox & Fiddle has eight locations in Toronto, it’s the Fox & John that takes the (coffee) cake as one the best places to get brunch in the downtown core. Their brunch runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the week and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m on weekends; it includes delicious options such as truffled eggs, a smoked salmon benedict, and chicken and waffles! Their real star is their bottomless mimosa, where refills are only $2! Get a great deal and get day drunk at brunch!
Where: 102 John St, Toronto, ON, M5H 1X9.
Price: $$-$$$.

Insomnia
Serving up brunch from 10-4 p.m. daily (so everyday can feel like the weekend), Insomnia has arguably the best home-fries in the city, and serve them in their legendary sauce. There’s a lot more than just potatoes on this menu though, boasting a huge selection of benedicts, delicious Huevos Rancheros (just like Jesse Pinkman used to make), and French toast with Challah bread. Enjoy a meal with one of their $6 mimosas and enjoy an eclectic and innovative brunch!
Where: 563 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M5S 1Y6.
Price: $-$$.

Her Father’s Cider Bar + Kitchen
This rustic-chic cider bar was recently voted one of Yelp’s best restaurants in Canada, and with over 100 ciders to choose from, Her Father’s Cider Bar + Kitchen is a must for anybody looking for a great brunch spot with an abundance of cocktails. While their brunch selection is smaller compared to other spots on this list, all of their dishes are made from locally sourced ingredients and include a Croque Madame, crispy Latkes, and a smoked brisket hash!
Where: 119 Harbord St, Toronto, ON, M5S 1G8.

Lady Marmalade
Where else can you get a mimosa kit with a bottle of Prosecco, available with either fresh orange or grapefruit juice? Nowhere, and that’s why Lady Marmalade makes our list for the best brunch spots in the city! They are known for their signature eggs benedict and have seven varieties to try, including one with cheddar, bacon, and a mango salsa! Also, a must-try is their Crepe Croque Monsieur (pictured above, try not to drool all over your screen)!
Where: 265 Broadview Ave, Toronto, ON, M4M 2G8.
Price: $$-$$$.

Old School
Yeah, that’s a 5 pound stack of Old School’s famous Blueberry Hill pancakes. This funky little joint (I feel like Guy Fieri) is serving up comfort classics on their all-day breakfast menu, including bacon and eggs (The Easy-E Breakfast), sky-high burgers (the Notorious B.I.G. Mac Burger), and eggs benedict (Benny & The Jets). Their affinity for classic food and music makes this spot one of our favourites to get brunch.
Where: 800 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON, M6J 1V1.
Price: $-$$.
