There probably isn't another city in Canada where you can enjoy such high-level sports as you can, then in Toronto. Home to five major league sports teams and covering almost every major league North American sport, ranging from hockey to baseball to basketball, and more, Toronto is definitely a sports city. Can you watch them on a budget though? You absolutely can. Keep reading to find out how you can enjoy the ultimate sports weekender (for two), for less than half the price of a night in a hotel room! (The average double room in Toronto is $412 by the way).
Watch the Toronto Maple Leafs in Action for Free!
Any Canadian sports weekender wouldn't be complete without watching some hockey. It's well known that tickets to Toronto Maple Leafs’ games are expensive. Even at the cheap end of the scale - tickets are usually more than $150. With the Toronto Maple Leafs regular season just a few months away, it's never too early to start cheering them on. In the meantime, cheer on the other hockey teams, as they battle it out to win the Stanley Cup and make sure to check out their odds at NHL betting. Although, the Toronto Maple Leafs are out of the playoffs, did you know that you can catch them live in action for free?
Every year in February, the Toronto Maple Leafs hold an outdoor practice session at Nathan Phillips Square that is completely free. Fans can catch their favourite Leafs players in action when they hit the ice for their annual 3v3 outdoor practice! Plus, there will be Toronto Maple Leafs alumni autograph signings, prizes, giveaways, music, warm beverages, and more.

Play Disc Golf at one of Toronto's Famous Courses
Is it a sports weekender if you don't get to play any sports? If you’re looking for a fun sport to play, you should try out disc golf. The aim of the game is pretty much exactly like normal golf: make your way around the course in the fewest goes possible. The only difference is that instead of using clubs and a ball, you throw a disc. In Toronto, you can play disc golf either in some of the city's parks or on select golf courses. There's a full list available here, but we suggest Scarlett Woods Golf Course or Dentonia Park Golf Course for the authentic golfing experience. Both of these courses feature sweeping terrain, sand bunkers, and woodland to keep things interesting. The only thing you need to remember is to bring a disc!

Watch Sports (and Refuel) at The Aviary
After the exertion of disc golf, unwind and refuel at The Aviary. This sports bar-come-brewery is the perfect place to catch any big games. With their six big screens, pull up a chair and treat yourself to something salty and delicious from their menu. The Aviary was opened by the team behind Longslice Brewing, so craft beer fans are in luck. Plus, the menu is the ultimate homage to beer snacks. If you're feeling ravenous, order a side of the house poutine: trust us, you will not regret it.
If that’s not quite your scene, you can always check out one of the many rooftop patios in Toronto and soak in the beautiful weather and skyline views.
Budget Remaining: $146.50 (Poutine $11, Chicken $32, 2 Beers $16.50)
Watch the Toronto Raptors (Yes, Really!)
Did you know that the Toronto Raptors have bargain basement seat prices? You can find tickets starting at just $26 for the early part of the season. Home games are held at Scotiabank Arena, which holds just under 20,000 sports fans when at full capacity. If you each buy yourselves just the essentials - a foam finger ($9.99) and a 20 oz beer ($24.50) - then you'll have more than enough left for the train home to wherever you live in Toronto!
Budget Remaining: $25.52 (2x foam finger $19.98, 2x 20 oz beer $49, 2x tickets $52)
