For over 2 years now mask mandates have been in place as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. It almost seems as if masks and other face coverings have become a part of our daily wardrobe. The Ontario provincial government previously made an announcement that mask mandates for high risk areas would end April 27, but its looking like mask mandates in Ontario just got extended.
On Friday it was announced by the Ontario provincial government that existing mask mandates will be extended as far forward as June 11, 2022. They mentioned that this extension was being made in an effort to avoid worsening conditions as the province pushes through its sixth wave of COVID-19.
Although mask mandates in Ontario just got extended, the mandates still only affect high risk areas. Such high risk areas include public transit, air travel, and healthcare facilities such as hospitals, long-term care homes, and correctional facilities. Ontario residents will still have the green light to attend facilities such as restaurants, malls, and gyms without the need for a mask.
