As the summer winds down, the weather is getting to that perfect point where it isn’t sweltering but it isn’t chilly; it’s just right. This opens up a realm of possibilities and new activities for great dates; whether it’s a picnic in the park, that patio you’ve been meaning to hit up all summer long, or the cliché long walk on the beach (a personal favourite of this author TBH), there are plenty of ways to take advantage of these gorgeous temperatures. Whether it’s a fun first date or a romantic evening with your significant other, here are some cute date ideas for you and yours!
Take in the View from The Broadview Hotel
With 360° views of the city and it’s sunsets, The Broadview Hotel offers scenic views and a homey dining experience that is a perfect date spot. Their rooftop terrace, aptly named “The Rooftop”, has great lunch and brunch options (the latter being available from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the weekends), but the Rooftop Bar will light up your night as you marvel at the views of the Toronto skyline. This gorgeous view and lovely little spot makes for a fantastic date idea.

Have a Picnic at Christie Pits Park
Located directly across from Christie subway station, Christie Pits is a sprawling park with a valley, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, splash pads, skateboarding areas, and trails weaving throughout! This all serves as entertainment for a lovely date; there are picnic tables and plenty of flat ground to set up a beautiful spread. If you don’t want to pack your own treats and refreshments, there are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby to accentuate the experience!

Rent a Canoe from the Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre
Have you spent much time on Lake Ontario this season? If not, then this is the perfect activity for you and a date! Rent a two-person canoe from Harbourfront Canoe & Kayak Centre and enjoy breathtaking views on the lake while getting fit and building that chemistry (physical and emotional)! You could paddle to the Toronto Islands, and could even bring your dog in the canoe with you (three is a crowd, after all); act now, as they’re only open until the end of September!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for Dutch Dreams! It’s not too late in the summer for an ice-cream date, and this staple of St. Clair West has been serving up eccentric cones and mind-boggling creations for over 3o years! They have nearly 40 original flavours, a variety of cones, and a myriad of toppings that you and your date can mix and match to create a masterpiece thought to be inconceivable! Maybe Dutch Dreams will be the spot for your dream date?

While you have the ever-popular Budweiser Stage nearby, RBC Echo Beach doesn’t get enough love for being a great outdoor concert venue; dip your toes in the sand and see some of the music industry’s brightest upcoming stars or established acts! Upcoming concerts include Lil Nas X on his “Long Live Montero” tour, taking place on Saturday, September 17th, 2022; tickets are still available, so make sure to get yours now and have an unforgettable date night!

Stop and Smell the Flowers at Rosetta McClain Gardens
Located near the Scarborough Bluffs (and providing fantastic views of Lake Ontario), the Rosetta McClain Gardens featured raised planters, rose gardens, rock fountains, and more sights to behold while we still have a few weeks of summer. While the beautiful floret is the main attraction, the gorgeous wildlife that call this spot their home include a variety of birds and butterflies for you and your date to admire! While Toronto offers a variety of flower gardens to visit, this hidden gem of the East end should be at the top of your list for a romantic rendezvous.
