One of nature’s most beautiful events is the shift from Summer (we still have a few weeks left, so make the most of it!) to Fall and the gorgeous colours that come along with it; the lush greens of the trees shift to warm hues of reds, oranges, and yellows and make for some of the most scenic views of the year. While you might be able to take in a microcosm of this beauty in your day-to-day life, we’ve scoped out five of the best spots in and around the city where you can immerse yourself in nature and take in all the lovely Fall colours!
Don River Valley Park
This former quarry and industrial site has been converted into one of the Don Valley’s most beautiful natural spaces. This 200-hectare park connects both Riverdale Parks and the Evergreen Brickworks, and features numerous trails to bike, jog, or just go for a leisurely stroll on, including the expansive Beltline and Bayview trails! It is home to a variety of wildlife, including butterflies, deer, and Toronto’s favourite animal: raccoons!
Where: 550 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON, M4W 3X8.

Dundas Peak
The Spencer Gorge Conservation Area is home to a variety of natural wonders in the Hamilton area; this includes Webster Falls, Tew Falls, and the breathtaking Dundas Peak! At the mouth of Spencer Gorge with views of the Hamilton Harbour and the local townships in Ancaster and Dundas, the surrounding foliage make Dundas Peak one of the most scenic spots in the Golden Horseshoe and is only a short drive away from Toronto! Make sure to visit their website and make a reservation!
Where: 581 Harvest Rd, Dundas, ON, L9H 5K7.

Forks of the Credit
Located just north of Brampton, the Forks of the Credit Provincial Park is located on the historical Bruce Trail; the oldest and longest marked hiking trail in Canada. The short drive takes you through a beautiful forest with an array of gorgeous flora, but make sure to vehicle permit ahead of time and get your parking spot. With a variety of interconnected trails including the Dominion Trail and the beautiful Cataract Falls, this spot along the Credit River is a must-see this Autumn.
Where: 17760 McLaren Rd, Caledon, ON, L7K 2H8.

High Park
One of Toronto’s most famous outdoor spaces, High Park is as beautiful in the Autumn as it is in the Spring with the Cherry Blossoms. The city’s largest park has a winding series of trails to walk along, an off-leash area for your furry companion, refreshing waterfront views, and so much more! Located next to it’s namesake subway station, High Park is easy to get to and is home to some of the prettiest sights you’ll see as the leaves begin to change colours.
Where: 1873 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON, M6R 2Z3.

Trinity Bellwoods
A favourite of many among the downtown core, Trinity Bellwoods Park has 15 hectares of foliage, trails, and nature space to take in the myriad of sights that the Fall colours will provide. With ample picnic space and numerous coffee shops (check out the White Squirrel Coffee Shop; I’m drinking a delicious iced latte from them right now), restaurants, and snack spots around the area, Trinity Bellwoods is a perfect spot for a scenic Autumn picnic!
Where: 790 Queen St W, Toronto, ON, M6J 1G3.
