The Toronto International Film Festival is returning to the city for its 47th instalment, running from September 8th to September 22nd. TIFF will feature a great selection of foreign and domestic films, the biggest names in cinema, and an Industry Conference where experts divulge their insights on the art and business of the film industry.
Known for their premier selection of films from around the world, TIFF has lived up to this reputation in 2022 with a lineup of films spanning all genres. Selections this year include a “haunting mystery” starring Tilda Swinton in a career-defining performance for the prolific actress in The Eternal Daughter, prominent Canadian filmmaker Luis De Filippis’s debut feature Something You Said Last Night, and the depiction of the iconic entertainment industry figure Al Yankovic in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story.
In addition to a myriad of films, TIFF features multiple series of events giving a look at what goes on behind the scenes; their Dialogues, Microsessions, Perspectives, Spotlights, and Visionaries series all feature a variety of pertinent topics and important figures. These include Hilary and Chelsea Clinton discussing their new series “Gutsy”, the growing DocuMentality movement that normalizes conversations regarding mental health in the documentary industry, and spotlights on cinema from a variety of cultures including Indigenous and Ukrainian filmmakers.
The Toronto International Film Festival is one of the world’s premier film festivals, but has expanded beyond just cinema and offers a great insight into the film and entertainment industry. Tickets are available now for TIFF Members, and will go on sale to the general public on September 5th.
